A postseason berth guarantees entry, not a particular route.

The division table compares clubs in one division. The wild-card table compares eligible non-division leaders across the league. A club can be safe in the wider wild-card field while still chasing first place in its division. Games behind shows distance from a leader, but it is not a direct count of wins required to clinch.
Tiebreak procedures matter when records can finish level.
